A spokesman for UN General Secretary Ban Ki Moon said the United Nations is “very concerned with worrying developments” in Cambodia, after a second judge said investigations into the Khmer Rouge have been hampered.

Spokesman Martin Nesirky said the UN supports a genocide tribunal to investigate the reign of the Khmer Rouge, during which an estimated 2.2 million people died.

This week, Geneva judge Laurent Kasper-Ansermet quit the tribunal, saying there were serious irregularities with the investigation which prevented him from working freely.

Previously, German judge Siegfried Blunk also quit the tribunal, claiming interference from Cambodian authorities.
