The United Nations expressed "serious concern" after a second judge quit Cambodia's war crimes court over a rift about whether to pursue more former members of the Khmer Rouge regime.
Swiss co-investigating judge Laurent Kasper-Ansermet resigned on Monday, saying his efforts to probe possible third and fourth cases had been constantly "blocked" by his Cambodian counterpart at the UN-backed tribunal.
"The situation at the (court) continues to be of serious concern and the United Nations is examining it closely," UN chief Ban Ki-moon's spokesman Eri Kaneko told AFP in an email late on Monday.
Kasper-Ansermet's resignation came after German judge Siegfried Blunk quit the court in October citing government interference in the controversial cases.
The United Nations named reserve judge Kasper-Ansermet as his replacement but Cambodia refused to recognise the appointment, sparking an unprecedented row and forcing the Swiss to work without the support of his Cambodian counterpart.
The UN has not yet said whether it has a replacement judge ready to take over when his resignation takes effect from May 4, but observers believe any future judge would likely face similar difficulties.
"The UN must demand that the Cambodian government desists from this political interference, and make clear the consequences should it continue," said Rupert Abbott, Amnesty International's Cambodia researcher.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen has long and vocally objected to pursuing more suspects of the 1975-1979 regimes beyond the current second trial.
The tribunal, set up to find justice for the deaths of up to two million people under the hardline communist Khmer Rouge regime, has so far completed just one case, sentencing a former prison chief to life in jail for overseeing the deaths of some 15,000 people. A second trial involving the regime's three most senior surviving leaders is ongoing

Why are you so blind with the Vietnamese dirty games? The real Killers are the Vietnamese agents and leaders in Hanoi. Cambodia has been operated by the Vietnamese high ranking members of CPP (Cambodian People Party) led by Hun Sen who was a real Khmer killer who was illegally installed to be Prime Minister of Cambodia by the Vietnamese masters in Hanoi, Communist Vietnam. These groups of CPP officials and Hun Sen have been told or ordered by the Vietnamese leaders in Hanoi.

Some of Cambodian/Khmer people have been murdered secretly by Vietnamese high ranking officials and bodyguards, military polices (fake Cambodian citizens who could speak and write Cambodian/Khmer language so well) everyday until today.
Cambodian Natural Resources and lands have been overtaken by the illegal Vietnamese CPP high ranking officials and Vietnamese puppet Hun Sen until Cambodian country will be destroyed and Cambodian people will lose the land and natural resources they own for centuries and decades.
There are many illegal businesses and private companies from Communist Vietnam (included China) who paid priceless $$$ to Vietnamese CPP high ranking members (fake Cambodian/Khmer citizens) and illegally installed PM Hun Sen (Vietnamese dog) to take over land, forest, natural resources illegally from the Cambodian/Khmer farmers, owners, and wild animals who have been living there.
Mr. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, you have not done enough work to help protect Khmer victims of Killing Fields and you have been so blind with the tricks and dirty games that Vietnamese crooks and masters in Hanoi who created all the messes and caused those the corrupted CPP officials and Vietnamese dog Hun Sen to do the very bad things to Cambodia and Cambodian people who have been suffering everyday until today.
Mr. UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, please stop being so blind and please pay close attentions and give some speeches to the International Communities to hear the worse situations in Cambodia today.

Regarding the situation in Cambodia, you must look beyond the obvious things. Vietnam is so crazily tricky.
The UN must overcome any obstacle posed by Vietnam and the puppet government of Hun Sen if the UN wants to gain respect from the people around the world about its integrity and competency.
The UN must keep the KRT going because finding justice for Khmer people is UN’s noble mission. The UN will ultimately understand Vietnam's tricks deployed in Cambodia. In effect, Vietnam has created and brainwashed Khmers, called Khmer Vietminh, to make Khmers fight with Khmers, to make Khmers kill each other and exploit it. That was one of the main reasons why about 3 million Khmer people perished during the Pol Pot’s era.
Presently, Vietnam’s strategy is to put dumb Khmer leader such as Hun Sen to control Khmer people and Vietnam manipulates him behind the scene to reach its ultimate goal of colonizing and absorbing Cambodia.
The concern that the UN would uncover the murderers who committed the mass killing during the Pol Pot's era has prompted Vietnam to push its puppet Hun Sen to react strangely to case 003, 004's initiative in an effort to impede the KRT from going forward or go smoothly.
If Vietnam is the real Cambodians' savior, why Vietnam is so apprehensive about the KRT, especially concerning case 003 and case 004?
