Later on King Sihanouk embraced the Khmer Rouge because he knew the communists were winning the war and to save his own skin, the royal family, and rvenged on Cambodians who live with Khmer Republic and not joint him in helping Vietcong that is why King Sihanouk are seen embracing the Khmer Rouge in many of the Khmer Rouge photographs which the Khmer Rouge would later use to promote their propaganda among the Cambodian population!
In reality King Sihanouk hates the Khmer Rouge more than the scum of the Earth because their logic and theory of how Cambodian society structure full of stupidity!but he hate Cambodians who not do as he asked or order more!
King Sihanouk even suggests the Khmer Rouge leaders that if they want true form of communism for Cambodia and why not turn your country men including women and children into a monk and a nun! Therefore all Cambodian people will be equal! Since KRouge hate religion that what Shihanouk 's suggestion became in 1975!
The Khmer Rouge never heeds King Sihanouk because being a King and King Sihanouk represent anti-communist! But Both old-King and the Communist are dictatores and oppressing peaople.

Millions of illegal and legal Vietnamese have been residing inside Cambodia, causing extreme concerns amongst Khmer people about the prospect that Cambodia would be the second Kampuchea Krom.
The killings during the Pol Pot's era were committed by the Khmer rouge, the Khmer Vietminh, etc.
Notice that Khmer Vietminh were created by Vietnam to make Khmers fight with Khmers, to make Khmers kill each others.
How about the K5, which killed hundreds of thousands of Khmer people in the 80's? This K5 scheme was totally orchestrated by Vietnam.

The communists were winning on the battle field and love by the mass Cambodian population who are just emerging from the brutality of colonialism! The trend of the day was that the mass Cambodian population didn't like colonialism and the alternative was the communism because the communism was a new ideology and mass Cambodian population never knew much about communism and communism claimed to make people equal and beside the communist block was so good at propaganda and they show how advance they are in the field of science and politic! Do you really think that historian can record every fucken detail about what happens and what is going to happen in Cambodia in a way that show the true intention of any Cambodian leaders? So tell me who are these historians that wrote about Cambodian history? Are they foreign born or native born Cambodian writer of Cambodian history? History is written by winner and by loser!
You don't have to look far and by taking a close look at AH HUN SEN regime! AH HUN SEN did his best to rewrite Cambodian history in favor of Vietnam by giving up vast land and sea boundary to Vietnam and by honoring January 7, 1979 the day of Vietnam occupation of Cambodia as the day of liberation of Cambodia! Now Cambodian people see Vietnam as their savior not as their historical enemy! Remember Vietnam still oppress million and million Khmer people!
What you read in history book is just a snap shot of event that happened in the past is and not the same if you been in the country and experience and live through event unfolding before your very eyes!
